  2. proving himself in international competition,
  3. he became the youngest grand master in
  4. history. He was the author of Games of Chess
  5. 1959, and was also celebrated for his
  6. unorthodox psychological tactics. He won the
  7. world title from Boris Spassky in Reykjavik,
  8. Iceland, 1972. Born in Chicago, Fischer was
  9. raised in New York and began serious
  10. involvement with chess at an early age. By
  11. 1956 he had won the US junior chess title
  12. and, within two years, had also won the US
  13. Chess Federation championship for adults.
